The Miller Center is offering a 10-week paid internship for entrepreneurially-minded students interested in working for start-ups. Students will be matched with established alumni startups based on their skills and background.

Purpose

If you’re interested in continuing your entrepreneurial studies during the summer, this program is for you. We are offering an opportunity to apply your skills in a real-world environment and build a relationship with a possible lifelong mentor.
We also aim to support alumni who are pursuing entrepreneurship by providing partial funds to hire hard-working William & Mary interns at their startups.

Applying to the Program

The application process is open to all grade-levels and majors. Internships will be awarded based on student’s entrepreneurial spirit, character, and experience. The application process consists of two stages.

  1. Fill out a short answer application and submit your resume to the Entrepreneurship Center. Your application will determine whether it is sent to companies based on their specific request
  2. Applicants who make it to the second stage will be contacted by interested companies for possible further applications and interviews.

March – April: Company Decisions and Final Acceptances sent out

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible, you must be a member of the Alan B. Miller Entrepreneurship Center. We also look at the following criteria when determining who gets accepted to round two:

We are looking for students who are:

  • Involved members of the Entrepreneurship Center – a greater degree of involvement will improve your chances of selection
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • Proven self-starters
  • Outside-of-the-box thinkers

Upon accepting the internship, students must agree to the following:

  • Commit to a lunch or dinner with the CEO of their respective company
  • Afterwards, write a short essay about your experience
  • Contact companies you have applied to and resign your application

Payment

Interns can expect to be paid $3,000 for the summer.
